For many people, the thought of going to the chiropractor conjures up long-term treatments. However, we at Chiro du Portage take emergency appointments, which can relieve pain and other short-term symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These appointments are used to treat people who have had an accident or are in sudden pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although not a long-term solution, emergency treatment can provide much-needed relief when other treatments have failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is a chiropractic emergency?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    This is when your quality of life is greatly affected. The pain prevents you from going about your day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Are you limited in your work or in your daily activities? If so, it’s time to consult a health care professional. Don’t wait for your body to compensate with harmful movements or positions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Your initial problem will then be complicated by muscle tension and inflammation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Have you ever woken up one morning with neck pain that prevents you from turning your head in one direction? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If so, it could be a torticollis. There are several different types of torticollis: acute, traumatic, spasmodic and congenital. Through a detailed physical examination, the chiropractor is trained to diagnose the type of torticollis you have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once the cause of your pain has been determined, the chiropractor will be able to provide proper management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If your torticollis is caused by a muscle spasm, a facet irritation or a herniated disc, the chiropractor will give you treatments and recommendations adapted to your condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you have a high fever, it may be a sign of an infection or other medical problem. Loss of sensation in the genitals may be a sign of nerve damage or disease. Unexplained weight loss can be a sign of many underlying health problems, such as thyroid problems, diabetes or malnutrition. Finally, sudden fractures can occur due to loss of bone density, often seen in people with osteoporosis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
